A Life Update & My 2019 Goals
The past couple of months have been a bit hectic. The lease at the apartment we were in was coming up for renewal and after a weekend away with friends, we decided to buy into their business and move to a rural town about 4 hours from the city we were in. The whole moving and becoming self-employed business partners things is pretty big within itself, but we made our decision in about a month and a half (who makes life-changing decisions at super short notice? These guys).
We are very fortunate and privileged to have the resources to have been able to this, and I feel this move was the right thing to do. I'm not going to talk about the move in depth in this post, but there will be more posts coming.
Now that we have my life updated out of the way here are some of the things I want to do this year
Continue with my health and fitness journey - getting healthier, fitter and stronger is something I have been passionate about for the past couple of years. I had a pretty big kick in the ass a few years ago that made me realise I need to take my health more seriously, and since then I have been more mindful about the way I eat and have been finding ways to work out that bring me joy/get me excited about moving. Recently I have been doing HIIT workouts with a friend. Those workouts kick my ass, but I feel great afterward, and it’s been good working out with someone else.
Continue on my journey of self-love & self-discovery - over the past year, I feel I've come along way in regards to self-love/acceptance, but I know there's still work to do. The area I need to work on the most is body positivity, I realised at the start of the year that I can be incredibly harsh, and what I see when I look in the mirror isn't always what other people see. As far as self-discovery is concerned, I feel that's a lifelong thing; I'm always going to be growing and evolving and learning things about myself (at least, I hope that's the case)
Drink more water - this has been a goal of mine for a while; I need to drink more water (or any liquid really, because I don't really drink enough of anything).
Be as sustainable as possible - This is something I've mentioned in a few posts, as reducing my waste and being mindful of impact I have on the planet is something that is very important to me. I feel that this will be a lot easier now that we've moved, as we now have space and resources to compost, which is something I had wanted to do for a while, but couldn't in our apartment.
CREATE- paint, draw, write, knit, cook, make my own skin care products; I really just want to make things and share what I create with others.
Combat my anxiety and OCD - I've had anxiety and OCD (both diagnosed) for as long as I can remember. It wasn't until the beginning of the year that I realised how much they were holding me back and stopping me from living my best life, and I needed to do something. I think this will be the most challenging goal for me, by far, but it's something I'm ready to work on,
My word of the year
Choosing a word that I want to focus on/manifest throughout the year has been something I have been doing for a while. I usually think about what I want the most and choose a word associated with that, but this year I decided to do something a bit different and pulled a card from the oracle deck I received in my November astral box instead.
Tne card I pulled for the year was blessing; it confused the hell out of me. After thinking about it for a while, I think it's a reminder for me to count my blessings, especially when I'm disappointed and it feels as if nothing is working out - there is always something for me to be thankful for.
